The challenge of on-board Perception and Decision-making for Autonomous Driving in Mixed traffic conditions

Résumé

Invited Talk. This talk addresses the challenges of on-board Perception and Decision-making for Autonomous Driving in mixed traffic conditions. After a brief overview of the state of the art of autonomous driving technologies and the main unresolved issues in this area of research, I briefly present some promising avenues of research combining Bayesian and AI approaches. I then discuss some important open questions regarding robustness, scalability, and validation / certification issues, respectively.
