Journées d'Informatique Théâtrale 2024
Avignon, October 9-11, 2024
The Journées d’Informatique Théâtrale (JIT) were established in 2020 as a meeting place for computer scientists and theater artists, following the example of the Journées d’Informatique Musicale (JIM), where musicians and computer scientists have been meeting for thirty years to establish the new discipline of computer music.
At the intersection of computer science and theater studies, the new disciplinary field of computer theater is typically dedicated to the study and development of new forms of theater creation and transmission in digital spaces.
The third edition of the Computer Theater Conference or « JIT » in Avignon aims to question new practices using mainly immersive technologies and AI, as well as practices of the future, particularly those related to the metaverse.
Among the many relevant topics, we will favor the sharing of experience and technical contributions concerning programming languages and creative tools offered by computer scientists to theater artists and technicians ; the analysis of new scenographies and dramaturgies made possible by technical innovations in theater computing ; and the attempts to define this new discipline, its scientific and artistic stakes, and its links with the neighboring fields of computer music, digital arts and digital humanities.
